NEW YORK CITY METROCARDS

Metrocards started replacing tokens in NYC in 1994. At first people didn’t like Metrocards, but soon got used to them, especially since they keep coming out with different collectible designs. Most people think all Metrocards are gold-colored so I like to collect ones that are different colors. I have lots of colors like purple, green, brown and orange. Each color is specially made for different kinds of people.

The first Metrocard was blue. It’s good to save things on the very first day they come out because most things change over time and you’ll always have the original.
